Everything started when I tried Kombucha for the first time in Singapore - my home for 4 years.

I was at my friend's house when she let me try her own homemade kombucha. I thought to myself: "Wow, finally a drink that is non-alcoholic, contains real ingredients, and it's good for you."

And right there I felt in love with this fermented drink.

I did all the learning and the research and in a matter of weeks I had my scooby, and I was producing batches of kombucha at home.

But the "aha" moment came when I went to have dinner at Zen, a three Michelin star restaurant in Singapore. On their menu they had the alcholic and non alcoholic pairing. We ordered both to try them, and to my surprise the non-alcoholic pairing was much better.

I then realised kombucha can be seen as a sophisticated drink. Immediately I thought: "Should I create a brand for my kombucha?" But then I hit reality - had no money, lived in one of the most expensive cities in the world, and I had no time as I was going to the office to work everyday.

It was just not the time or place for Kamen.

Kamen became to take form when I left Singapore and moved to Brindisi towards the end of 2023. I suddenly found myself with no job, no friends, lots of time and a dream to make my own project.

When I started meeting local friends they would suggest me to have a coffee at 6:30pm. I wanted to meet them but I never knew what to order outside. I didn't want to have a coffee as it had too much caffeine. I didnt want to drink alcohol and I defenitely didnt want to have a sugary drink.

I missed the option of ordering a kombucha.

And thats when the "aha" moment came at the right place and time. It was then the perfect time and place to start Kamen.

I decided that I wanted to show people a different drink, give the community of Brindisi the option to try something new.

Kamen officially started in 2024 and it became my dream. Something that kept me alive, entertained and with hope.
